Tpstreams Now Supports Livestream MP4 Downloads for Offline Access

We’ve launched automatic MP4 generation for livestreams, making it easy to offer both online playback and offline downloads in one workflow. Students can now reliably download livestream sessions and watch them without internet, while admins save time with built-in conversion and distribution.
You’re in the middle of an important livestream…
The class is going smoothly, learners are engaged, and everything is on track.
Then it happens: a student in a low-bandwidth area loses connection.
The session is gone for them and so is the learning moment.
Here’s the deal: not every student has reliable, continuous internet.
And until now, livestream formats like HLS playlists (.m3u8) weren’t practical for offline playback.
But here’s the kicker:
We’ve solved it.
Introducing Downloadable MP4s from Livestreams, a new feature that automatically converts your livestreams into MP4 files alongside the standard HLS stream. That means your learners can stream when connected or download and watch anytime, anywhere.
What’s New:
With this update, you can now:
- Enable MP4 generation per livestream with a simple toggle while creating a stream.
- Automatically convert HLS (.m3u8) segments into MP4 files, no more manual conversions.
- Distribute both online (.m3u8) and offline (.mp4) links directly from the livestream detail page.
- Store MP4s securely in TpStorage, with links also sent via webhook for easy LMS integration.
The result: a seamless way to support both live and offline learning without extra tools or manual steps.
Why It Matters:
For admins and educators, this feature is about time saved and friction removed.
For students, it’s about reliable access to classes no matter where they are.
Here’s what it delivers:
- Offline learning for every student → Students can download MP4s and study later, even without the internet.
- No more manual conversions → Admins don’t need to generate MP4s themselves.
- All links in one place → Both streaming and download links are automatically available.
The bottom line: better learning experiences, less operational hassle.
How It Works ?
Getting started is simple:
1. Create a new livestream in your Tpstreams dashboard

2. Toggle “Enable static MP renditions” during setup.

3. Once the stream ends, the system validates and converts HLS segments into MP4 files (per resolution).
4. MP4 files are uploaded securely to TpStorage.
5. Access links instantly, both .m3u8 for streaming and .mp4 for download, on the asset detail page.

After livestream completes Tpstreams will send webhook to the client with the details of livestream includes mp4 links as well
FAQs
What happens if conversion fails?
Streaming is unaffected. You’ll still have .m3u8 links, and admins are notified with retry options for MP4.
Can MP4s be downloaded in multiple resolutions?
Yes. MP4s are generated per resolution, so students can choose file size and quality.
Want to know the best part? You don’t need any extra setup. The next time you create a livestream, just enable MP4 generation and give your students the flexibility of both streaming and offline playback.
